Examples of duties

This position supports the daily maintenance of park grounds, buildings, and facilities to keep Oil Creek State Park safe and attractive for visitors. The work involves active, hands-on tasks that help preserve the natural and built features of the park. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Mow grass, trim brush, remove snow, and complete other upkeep tasks around park areas
  • Facility Cleaning: Clean restrooms, washhouses, and other park buildings to maintain visitor comfort
  • Tool and Equipment Use: Operate hand tools, power tools, tractors, and other equipment safely and correctly
  • Repair Assistance: Help skilled workers with basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building repairs
  • Material Handling: Load and move materials such as sand, gravel, and debris using appropriate tools
  • General Support: Drive trucks, assist coworkers, and complete tasks that support daily park operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately April 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately April 2027. 
  • Work schedule will vary due to the seasonal nature of the position. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent. 

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
