Senior Mechatronics Engineer

Job Description

 

As the pioneer and world leader of the oil-free centrifugal compressor product category, the enterprise is dedicated to the design, manufacture, marketing and support of the world’s most efficient commercial refrigerant compressors. The result is the world’s first totally oil-free compressor specifically designed for the HVAC industry.

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer within the Mechatronics Engineering team, this role will be responsible for delivering and maintaining integrated compressor designs for new technology introduction, new product development and sustaining engineering. Responsibilities include contribution to the technology development of new platforms to expand the product portfolio; from definition of the customer/product requirements to concept validation and product implementation. This portfolio includes but is not limited to dynamic turbo machinery, magnetic bearings, permanent magnet motors and integrated power electronics.

Job Responsibilities

 

• Perform design activities including: design specifications, architecture mapping, logic diagrams, design FMEA evaluations, mechatronic system integration.
• Integrated compressor design for low cost and quality sustainable manufacturing
• Modeling for component and system level designs
• Design verification by numerical simulations using engineering tools such as FEA, CFD and parameter study tools, etc.
• Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system level testing.
• Work within defined standards to maintain product lifecycle management
• Collaborate with cross functional teams within engineering, operations and procurement groups to ensure manufacturing and assembly feasibility and serviceability
• Participate in new technology research and development projects as requested
• Deliver design documentation following project stage gates
• Support certification to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, UL and CE and ensure environmental and safety guidelines are applied accordingly

Background & Skills

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or post graduate degree of Science in Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years engineering experience related to mechatronic system design
• Experience with engineering analytical tools, e.g. FEA, CFD, etc.
• Experience with material selection, design procedures and design for manufacturing and assembly methods
• Proficient in 3D CAD
• Must be detail oriented and self-motivated
• Relocation to Tallahassee, FL is required
• Ability to Travel

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
• 3+ years organization experience in turbo machinery product development
• Experience with technical documentation in at least 1 full lifecycle product development
• Experience in rotordynamic analysis and testing validation
