Public Safety Internship Summary Description
Join our team for a 10-week Public Safety Department internship designed to provide comprehensive exposure to public safety functions. The internship will allow you to provide services within public safety communications, response, and preparedness.
Internship Details
- This is a 10 Week Summer Internship Program starting on May 27, 2025 and ending August 1, 2025.
- Interns are expected to be in Jacksonville for the duration of the program.
- Daily work schedule is onsite.
- CSX provides optional intern housing for the duration of the 10-week program, as long as the selected intern meets eligibility criteria

Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Communicate and coordinate with public partners and internal departments while managing slow order requests.
- Communicate with internal departments concerning repeat non-emergency incidents.
- Coordinate and train with CSX public safety departments to identify cross-functional efficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Justice Administration, Homeland Security, Public Safety
Preferred Qualifications
- Anticipated graduation within a year after the end of the internship
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to maintain composure under all types of situations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office skills
- Strong multi-tasking skills
- Ability to address inquiries/situations promptly while maintaining a customer service orientation
Job Requirements
- Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation
- Work hours may vary in length and schedule (non-standard work week)
- Field and office environment
