Job Description

Pine Technical and Community College seeks a Temporary, Long-term Substitute Welding Technology/Welder Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at PTCC are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse an collaboration, and advance the college mission. Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement:

• Diploma in welding.

Occupational Experience Requirement:

• Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in welding.

• One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Preferred Qualification 

• Teaching experience at the postsecondary level, preferably at a two-year college

• Prior on-line experience using D2L Brightspace platform or equivalent information management system

• Demonstrated commitment to quality instruction and continuous improvement

• Ability to work with a diverse student body with a broad range of interests and abilities

• Ability to communicate effectively with students and peers

• Experience in curriculum development at the professional level

• Effective planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Other Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)

May vary based on portions of courses covered at the end of Fall semester and beginning of Spring Semester. In total, approximately 6 weeks of instruction, approximately 1.5 credits in the Fall semester and 2.75 credits in the Spring semester.
