This is a 2nd shift position. Hours: 2pm - 10pm PURPOSE:The machine operator is a critical team member for the Paramount, California operation. They will safety use machines to process customer orders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (performs other duties as assigned):

• Sets up and operates cutting machine(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

• Utilizes power equipment to process materials according to customer order requirements.
• Safely adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications.
• Notices and reports defects and/or excessive wear and tear of equipment; Performs set-up and preventative maintenance of equipment. Maintains a safe work environment
• Responsible for special projects as assigned.
• Assists with Warehouse Operator responsibilities as needed:
o Loads and unloads trucks in an efficient manner.
o Performs a variety of material movement tasks for order filling, receiving, and loading.
o Safely uses assigned power equipment to move material and meet order requirements (crown truck, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, fork lift).
o Follows customer requirements to select, fill and package orders.
o Attaches bundle tag to material being shipped and stages for shipment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two years of relevant machine operator experience, preferably in the metals service center industry
• Capable of being certified in assigned equipment (forklift, Raymond side-loader, overhead crane, etc.)

Basic measurement competency
Basic math competency
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a warehouse environment
Strong work ethic

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Manual dexterity (grasp, hand/wrist movement)
Stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach
Push/pull
Light lifting (25lbs or less)
Heavy lifting (25-50lbs)
Exposure to powered industrial equipment
Operates machinery and/or power tools
Operates motor vehicles or heavy equipment
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to training plan
