The Manufacturing Specialist I is responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs and setup sheets using CAD/CAM software for CNC lathes, mills, plasma cutters, Trumpf laser, and press brakes. This role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to improve quality, reduce costs, and ensure efficient production.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Develop CNC programs and setup sheets using CAD/CAM software.
Analyze technical drawings to determine dimensions, cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates.
Make manual program adjustments as needed.
Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process.
Maintain tooling database and collaborate with tool suppliers.
Partner with maintenance personnel and machine tool suppliers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
Work with cross-functional teams to reduce costs and improve product quality.
Modify postprocessors to output required machine codes.
Maintain a library of programs and configurations.
Develop time estimates for CNC machines, plasma cutters, Trumpf laser, and press brakes.
Train new employees on CNC machine operation and programming.
Design and develop fixtures to support production.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Engineering Manager.
What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and/or Associates Degree
Associates degree with 1+ years experience in a manufacturing environment required or high school diploma with 5-7+ years in high-volume manufacturing or comparable process environment required.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Hands-on experience with CNC machinery, machining principles, fabrication practices, and machining processes required.
Experience with one of the following software packages required:
CAD software: Creo, SolidEdge.
Specialized software: Trumpf TruBoost (laser), SigmaNest (plasma cutters), SigmaBend (press brakes).
Strong math skills and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems.
Ability to work independently and follow directions closely.
Positive, professional attitude with strong teamwork orientation.
Preferred experience:
Mastercam programming and postprocessors is a plus
