About the role

Director, Product Management, Finance Product & Data Solutions - Corporate Development & Integration

Our product team is part of a larger group focused on the transformation of Finance at Capital One.  The Corporate Development arm of Finance is responsible for assisting in creating new partnerships for our lines of business in addition to identifying possible acquisitions.  The product team is a close partner in solving for how we accelerate time to value in these engagements.

The Director, Product Management for Corporate Development & Integration is a unique and high profile role that is responsible for assessing upcoming opportunities, aligning the necessary support and resources to enable initiatives and formulating new ways to approach investments and portfolio integrations.  You’ll fundamentally transform how we think about expanding our businesses, enabling a faster time to close and integrate deals.

In addition to your contributions on overall portfolio and product strategies, you’ll also play a key role in building our Product Management organization. You’ll help shape our culture and our people, provide mentorship for your teammates and be an ambassador for Product Management across the Finance organization.

As the Director, Product Management, you will:

  • Create and provide frameworks for regularly and systematically using data to assess opportunities, track integration delivery performance, and drive decision making

  • Set the vision, establish or refine patterns and create enablers for how we integrate different types of new partnership deals or acquisitions

  • Perform due diligence to assess Finance impacts of a deal

  • Confidently communicate possible integrations strategy, risks and opportunities across large organizations and executives

  • Align the right support or resources to deliver on specific goals or enablers for future opportunities

  • Prioritize, negotiate and remove blockers to orchestrate successful integration cycles

  • Inspire, enable and empower teams to execute with a sense of urgency to deliver solutions and on priorities

  • Influence cross-department agendas proactively to deliver outcomes while balancing short and long term objectives

  • Serve as a thought leader, contributing practitioner, career guide, and mentor to teams

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in and passion for ideating, building and implementing great digital products

  • Experience in organizational change management including transforming and improving ways of working and interaction models

  • Exceptional communication skills -- an engaging storyteller at ease presenting to executives

  • Creative problem solver who provides leadership at the intersection of the human, business and technology dimensions.

  • Blend of both strategic and tactical thinking -- someone who can identify and prioritize opportunities in highly ambiguous contexts, and then organize work in deep detail; aligning long term vision with iterative execution

  • Aptitude to champion strategic technology initiatives to leap-frog current constraints and deliver transformational value

  • Strong quantitative background to support data-informed decision making

  • Collaborative, team player attitude with the ability to navigate and influence the organization

  • Superior problem-solving skills with strong strategic, white-spacing thinking

  • Inspiring leader

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 7 years of experience working in Product Management

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:

    • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)
