Job Description
Aluminum Die Casting Expert is a key function in our Purchasing Quality and Technology (PQT) department and is responsible to support new and existing Bosch Mobility casting projects. PQT expert is an integral part of diverse teams to procure High-pressure diecasting components that supports Bosch Mobility in Electrification and other mobility divisions. Objective is for the PQT expert to identify and develop new suppliers, while supporting the engineering design concepts for manufacturability, achieve cost effective processes, and optimize suppliers’ performance in support of company’s goals. Employee may work remotely.
- PQT Expert works independently with different functions within Bosch and Bosch supplier base. Apply expertise in areas such as Metal Injection Molding, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality. PQT Expert focuses and performs following main activities:
- Support activities during various development phases of Mobility program projects.
- Active participation during tool concept definition and selection as well as process definition (Die casting machine, Trimming, Tumbling and Cleaning).
- Lead problem-solving activities for complex challenges in new launches and series production.
- Support execution of Preventive Quality and Release according to Bosch Automotive Process Landscape processes. This includes participation in part design, technical supplier discussions meetings, tool build and initial process setup/trials.
Travel Expectation: Ability to travel 30-40% of the time. Domestic and International travel.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in engineering, materials science or metallurgy.
- 7+ years of Metal Casting industry experience in High-Pressure Diecasting (HPDC) process.
- 7+ years of experience in casting process development and process optimization.
- 7+ years of experience in casting related processes (e.g., machining, tumbling, trimming, blasting, heat treatment, Metal Melting and Handling).
- 7+ years of experience in Casting Tool Design, Construction and Maintenance.
- 5+ years of experience of HPDC regarding casting tooling concept/design.
Preferred Skills:
- Works well with diverse groups of associates and can function independent of direct supervision.
- Working knowledge of Flow simulation (Magma).
- Advanced skills in communication, leadership and project management skills as to achieve:
- Teamwork with the development department, you will optimize the design and specifications with regard to the requirements of the foundry technology.
- Teamwork with the project team and supplier, you will solve technical challenges before SOP and during the start-up phase of the project.
- Teamwork with our suppliers, you will analyze technical correlations and optimize processes with regard to quality and costs.
- Intermediate experience with structured problem solving (Shainin Red X, Kepner-Tregoe, 6-Sigma, etc…).
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office and other applications.
