Dance Team Sponsor

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for the position of Dance Team Sponsor. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Dance Team Sponsor directs, plans and manages the operation of the dance program including coaching and training, recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, public relations, fundraising and promotion while also supporting a culture that offers a positive student-athlete experience.   

• Manage all aspects of the dance team and its squad members. 
• Monitor the academic performance of squad members. 
• Monitor the mental and physical health of squad members. 
• Develop training programs for team and individual squad members. 
• Coordinate team travel arrangements and logistics. 
• Manage budget operations for the program and fundraise as necessary. 
• Initiate, coordinate, and participate in fundraising and community engagement activities. 
• Communicate as necessary with Sports Medicine staff regarding the health and injury status of student-athletes to help make better decisions regarding their training. 
• Attend dance events.  This includes presence at all practices, PSU home games, post-season games and special events. 
• Plan and implement instructional practices that maximize the talent and potential of squad members, while instilling values such as sportsmanship, leadership and personal wellness. 
• Demonstrate the ability to relate and motivate squad members and to work with a variety of university staff, alumni, and the outside community.   
• Evaluate academically and athletically qualified students for recruitment. 
• Must have excellent leadership and communication skills. 
• Must be willing to obtain within the first 30 days of employment appropriate coaching/safety certification. 

Education and Experience 

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire 

• Bachelor's degree
• Coaching or previous dance experience at the collegiate or secondary level. 

 Required certifications & licenses: 

• First Aid/AED/CPR certification
• Valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Unclassified 

Appointment Duration: 12 Months 

Salary:  $7,000.00; This is a Part-Time Temporary non-benefit earning position.
