The Opportunity

This position works out of our San Diego, CA location on site. The position of Sr. Manager, Cloud Platform Development is within our Infectious Diseases business unit in Abbott Rapid Diagnostics division on site daily.

The position of Sr. Manager, Cloud Platform Development is within our Infectious Diseases business unit in Abbott Rapid Diagnostics division, located in San Diego, California.  This role will be the technical lead for the cloud platform development team which designs and implements cloud solutions supporting our existing and next generation of portable diagnostics platforms. This role will be responsible for delivering the implemented solutions and leading the development of QMS deliverables. The right candidate for this position will be an experienced engineer who has demonstrated success designing, documenting, and implementing high-quality software on the cloud such as Azure, etc. 

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop and implement processes and tools that support the deployment of software releases to the cloud.

  • Responsible on keeping track and updating Service Principles and Certificates across all the environments including Production.

  • Responsible for the Infrastructure as Code structure and setting up idempotency of the process.

  • Responsible for build automated CI\CD pipelines to improve environment creation and repeatability.

  • Setup alerts and monitor Cloud Production environments to maintain stability of the environment.

  • Fix defects found during the implementation process or reported by the software test team.

  • Support software process definition and improvement initiatives. Support release process.

  • Working with the team to promote and uphold software development quality standards such as build success\deployment success, proper documentation, scalable design, code security, etc.

  • Lead team to design, build, and implement pipelines for supporting cloud solutions.

  • Drive level of effort estimates to support planning activities.

  • Lead team to provide microservices design specifications.

  • Manage a team of platform engineers located onsite and offshore.

  • Fix defects found during the implementation process or reported by the software test team.

  • Support software process definition and improvement initiatives and release process.

  • Demonstrate commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Alere Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Understand and recognize the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities

  • Exhibit professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practice
