What You Will Do

Manager is to support, coordinate, and monitor quality-related activities within EHRO to ensure product integrity and compliance to quality standards. This individual is responsible for coaching and developing the Quality Engineers, focused on integrating the QEs as a vital member of the operational team (i.e. expertise and subject matter experts related to Measurement System Analysis, Geometric Dimensioning Tolerance methods, Gage R&R, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) tools, Escape management process, etc.) Additional responsibilities will include overseeing the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and standard work regarding QE support to production and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages daily QE support on customer complaints, shop-induced nonconformances, vendor escapes, escapes, process plans, and service master activities. Establishes achievable daily and development objectives and monitors employee productivity.

  • Ensures customer complaints meet the 2-day and 5-day turnaround time, with effective responses.

  • Effectively manages the escape management process and ensures closure in a timely manner of activities. Ensures proper tools are deployed and effective root cause and corrective actions are identified. Mentors and coaches QE to enhance RCCA proficiency level.

  • Effectively manages corrective actions list for on-time closure and corrective action effectivity. Provides oversight to QEs and support were needed.

  • Strategically monitoring quality activities within the shop and proactively deploys activities to enhance quality signature and augment product integrity.

  • Identifies and executes process, procedure and standard work enhancements as needed. 

  • Trains, guides, and supports employees. Sets goals with employees and identifies professional development needs. Evaluates employee performance and provides feedback.

  • Supervises work of others, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards. Training staff and overseeing their productivity and signing employee performance evaluation / timecards. May have responsibility for making decisions on hiring, termination, pay adjustments, and succession planning.

  • Participate in regulatory, customer, and internal audits.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Advanced Degree 5+ years of experience in Engineering, Quality, Aerospace or Aviation; OR Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant industry experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position; only U.S. citizens are authorized to access and handle sensitive data required to support our government and military programs.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor’s degree STEM field. Materials Science or Engineering discipline preferred.

  • Quality engineering or materials science background, and experience with root cause investigations, corrective actions and problem-solving tools.

  • Knowledge of Aerospace manufacturing or Aftermarket (MRO) industry.

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma).
