Vanderbilt’s mission is to advance health and wellness through preeminent programs in patient care, education, and research.Reporting to the Clinical Director, directs unit personnel in care activities, controls and monitors the patient care and hospital services to meet the requirements of the accrediting agency, Federal and State agencies, VWCH, and the community. Collaborates with ancillary departments to achieve patient care goals. Mentors new employees and assists with educational needs of the staff. Gathers and collates data as assigned. Assists with evaluations, coordinates schedules.

Hours of Position:
Full-time, day shift, Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts/day; no holidays, no weekends, no call.
Department Summary:
Our department encompasses several specialty areas including Pre-Admission Testing, Infusion Center, Endoscopy, Same Day Surgery, and Operating Room.
The environment on our units is friendly, patient-centered, and collaborative with other members of the interdisciplinary team.

We orient new team members to our unit by using preceptorship experience to provide each person a safe space for learning. In addition, we have a perioperative educator, Debbie Weston, RN, CNOR who assists our new hires in their journey of transitioning to a new role and career goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assisting Director with scheduling/staffing, reporting, communications
• Overall Department management when Director is unavailable or otherwise needs assistance
• Provide nursing care as needed
• Chart audits/quality
• Oversee departmental education
