DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW 

The Regional Development team of United Way of Greater Atlanta enhances the organization's presence, reputation, and impact across 13 counties. By engaging local stakeholders, the team drives improvements in Child Well-Being (CWB) and addresses community issues in a customized, future-forward way. They build local relationships, increase revenue, and ensure United Way's representation, thereby expanding presence, improving reputation, and amplifying impact. 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

The Regional Director leads the development and execution of relationship-driven strategies across Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas, North Fulton, and Paulding counties to strengthen UWGA’s presence, partnerships, and impact in advancing economic mobility.  This role focuses on cultivating and managing high-value relationships across government, education, business, and community sectors while aligning local engagement with regional and organizational priorities. The Regional Director operates within a tiered market approach, prioritizing time and effort based on opportunity, influence, and impact. 

Regional Directors serve as connectors across systems and stakeholders, driving collaboration, strengthening regional councils, and positioning UWGA as a backbone organization for economic mobility across the region.  

The role is also responsible for proactively identifying, cultivating, and advancing a healthy pipeline of prospective donors, partners, and revenue opportunities that support subregional growth, market penetration, and long-term organizational sustainability. 
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS 
Education: Bachelor’s degree 

Experience: 5+ years in nonprofit, community development, partnership management, or related 

Communication Skills: Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and presentation skills 

Supervision Skills: Not required (focus on influence over direct management) 

Programs/Tech: Microsoft 365, CRM systems, partnership tracking tools 

Metrics Required:  Number and quality of strategic partnerships, engagement and effectiveness of County Board/ Regional Councils, alignment of regional strategies to organizational goals, contribution to revenue pipeline (in partnership with AVP/CR team), stakeholder engagement across tiered markets 

Skills Needed: Relationship development, stakeholder engagement, strategic alignment, systems thinking, facilitation, community engagement 

Competencies: Community-centric, collaborative, adaptable, strategic, data-informed 

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES  
Responsible for: 



Building and managing relationships across government, civic, education, workforce, and community sectors 





Executing partnership and relationship building strategies across Cobb, Cherokee, Douglas, North Fulton and Paulding counties with differentiated intensity 





Leading County Board/Regional Council strategy and volunteer recruitment, stewardship. 





Aligning local stakeholders to advance economic mobility and Child Well-Being outcomes 





Supporting revenue efforts by identifying partnership and funding opportunities for the regional pipeline 





Convening partners and facilitating cross-sector collaboration of child well being and economic mobility 





Representing UWGA in key community, civic, and regional forums  



Works with:  AVP, Regional Development; Corporate Relations team; local government, schools, nonprofits, business leaders 

Supervises:  Maintains a dotted line relationship with the Senior Director/Director of Corporate Relations to align corporate engagement, donor pipeline development, and revenue opportunities within the subregion.
