Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Clinical Specialist RN for our Med Surg Department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.
As a Clinical Specialist RN you will:
•Outcomes Manager: Establishes strategic plan, provides resources and has a clear vision for specialty/service line. Synthesizes data, information and knowledge to evaluate and achieve optimal client outcomes. Uses metrics with the interdisciplinary team to identify areas of opportunity and facilitates process and patient outcomes improvements. Serves as an active consultative member of quality or performance improvement councils.
•Educator: Uses appropriate teaching principles and strategies to teach healthcare professionals. Recommends specific programming to build clinical skill set of staff.
•Micro-Systems Analyst/Risk Anticipator: Actively involved in safety initiatives at the department and interdepartmental levels to improve care outcomes within the micro-system of care.
•Advocacy: Advocate for professional Nursing practice and the interdisciplinary health care team. Advocates for resources for safe delivery of patient care related to labor, equipment & facilities in specialty area with a global perspective.
•Information Manager: Uses health information systems and technology to improve health care outcomes and to obtain evidence-based practices. Recommends tools to effectively evaluate, summarize an communicate patient's progress toward outcomes to members of the healthcare team, patient and family.
•Clinician: Innovator/integrator and evaluator of professional Nursing practice to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations. Make recommendations regarding the collection of holistic assessments and Nursing practice at the point of care with particular emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction services, utilizing the best available evidence. Oversees development & implementation of care delivery model, establishes clear expectations.
Qualifications include:
•Minimum: Graduate of an approved, accredited school of nursing and completion of a Master's degree in Nursing with an emphasis on the Clinical Nurse Specialist role and required competencies.
•Preferred: Extensive clinical knowledge of the specific patient population
Related Experience
•Minimum: Three years acute care nursing experience in specific area of specialty (i.e. ICU, PACU). Progressive experience in health care including involvement in direct patient care, educating staff and system-level problem solving.
•Preferred: Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, Ability to handle multiple/changing priorities and deal with stresses associated with a patient care environment such as emergencies, time pressures, varying patient emotions/attitudes/conditions, etc.
•Minimum:
Licensed Registered Professional Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
National clinical certification in assigned area of practice within 6 months of employment
•Preferred:
ACLS or other technical certifications as per area assigned within 12 months.
Work Schedule:
Full Time Day Shift, Monday-Friday, 40 hrs/wk
