About the role

Aperio Global is seeking a highly experienced Enterprise/Application Architect to lead the development and transformation of application, data, network, cloud, and datacenter-centric architectures for our commercial program in Dulles, VA. As an Enterprise/Application Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and optimizing various architectural domains, persuading, and guiding the implementation team, and ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish application, data, network, cloud, and datacenter-centric architectures and designs, aligning with MWAA's current state, and effectively persuade and guide the implementation team to execute your vision.
  • Compile and manage standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), processes, and guidelines, gaining approvals from the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Deputy Vice President Chief Technology Officer (DVP CTO), IT, and business stakeholders.
  • Bring your expertise to transform airport IT applications and systems, ensuring high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and failover capacities as needed.
  • Demonstrate expert-level knowledge across all layers of the OSI model, ensuring the highest level of proficiency in implementation.
  • Establish and conduct architecture governance processes, including compliance, approvals, hold, reject, and issue non-conformance citations with timelines to comply. Keep the CIO and DVP CTO informed about architecture governance compliance and dependencies.
  • Effectively document, collaborate, and present your architecture designs to both IT and business leadership, making persuasive arguments based on trade-offs between architecture and cost.
  • Collaborate closely with IT and business stakeholders to establish and gain approvals for critical documents, including Technical Requirements Documents (TRC), Technical Architecture Concepts (TAC), Critical Incident Response Coordination (CIRC), and Board-level documents.
  • Work under the guidance of the CIO and DVP CTO to drive the strategic direction of enterprise architecture.
  • Security is integral to the enterprise architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 12+ years of hands-on experience in web application development, showcasing a progressive career path through various IT roles, including systems analysis, software development, and solution architecture.
  • Proficiency in enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF (Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework).
  • In-depth understanding of various technology domains, including application, data, infrastructure, and security architectures.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, DevOps, microservices, and IoT, and their impact on enterprise architecture.
  • The ability to align IT strategies and solutions with business objectives, with a strong grasp of business processes and how technology can enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, enabling effective interactions with business stakeholders, technical teams, and executive leadership. Proficiency in translating technical concepts into business language and vice versa.
  • Expertise in IT governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) to ensure that enterprise architecture meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Strong strategic planning abilities, including the capacity to develop and communicate a clear vision for the enterprise's technology landscape.
  • The ability to identify complex challenges and devise innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in managing organizational change and transitioning from current to future state architectures.
  • Familiarity with a range of technology vendors and their products, enabling informed decisions about procurement and integration. Understanding of data modeling, data governance, and information security to manage data as a strategic asset.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, as security is integral to the enterprise architecture.
