As the Soybean Agronomy Lead, you will be responsible for driving agronomic services and providing technical leadership for BASF’s soybean seed and trait business across U.S. soybean-producing regions. This role provides strategic direction, manages regional agronomic programs, and supports the commercialization of Xitavo soybean varieties. The position requires close collaboration with sales, breeding, trait development, technical services, and external stakeholders to achieve market share and business growth targets for soybean. Must be able to travel up to 50%, primarily domestic.

As a Soybean Agronomy Lead - Research Triangle Park, NC or Midwest US, you create chemistry by...

• Leading the development and execution of regional agronomic testing strategies for BASF soybean seed brands, including OVTs, agronomic performance trials, and side-by-side comparison trials.
• Leading the soybean agronomy team and establishing team priorities, performance metrics, and lifecycle management plans for the Xitavo brand.
• Overseeing in-field evaluation programs to generate robust product performance data that support commercialization and product-advancement decisions for soybean varieties.
• Collaborating with the Soybean Breeding Lead and cross-functional teams to identify new product needs, optimize testing strategies, and ensure products meet commercial performance and sales targets.
• Providing agronomic expertise and recommendations on soybean seed products, companion crop protection, and performance solutions; supporting technical launches of BASF trait technologies and digital farming initiatives.
• Managing market intelligence, complaint resolution, demo seed distribution, trial operations, field events, media representation for the Xitavo brand, and ensuring compliance with BASF regulatory, stewardship, QHSE, and QMS standards.

If you...

 

• Possess a thesis-based MS in biological or agricultural science or related; Ph.D. preferred.
• Have a minimum of 10 years of high-level performance in an agriculturally related field, with demonstrated ability to coordinate and evaluate internal and external research.
• Have a deep understanding of the U.S. agricultural industry, especially seed, traits, seed treatments, and crop protection, with a strong background in the soybean seed and trait sector.
• Possess a proven track record in people management, talent development, and recognition of new talent.
• Have proficient computer skills for data analysis, literature preparation, and written communication.
