About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking Senior Lead Control Management Officers to drive strategic control initiatives across Data Management. This role will lead the establishment of a Community of Practice to foster adoption among Business Control Managers (BCMs), support the Control Management Forum with actionable insights, and deliver standardized guidance across eight data domains.

The successful candidate will coordinate review and challenge of data policies and reference materials, proactively communicate evolving requirements, and surface emerging risks. This leader will also serve as a key feedback channel to the Chief Data Office (CDO), identifying integration opportunities, designing roadmaps, and simplifying processes to enhance control effectiveness and operational efficiency.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to more experienced leaders in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines
  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management
  • Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations
  • Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams
  • Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge across enterprise data risk management framework, including; risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance

  • Understanding and execution of best-practice risk management techniques applicable for LOBs like those found in Chief Data Office

  • Advanced knowledge of relevant financial regulations and understanding of how they are implemented, managed, and enforced in LOBs similar to those found in Chief Data Office

  • Deep technical understanding of data management operations, processes, products, and data management risks and where they manifest risk

  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the business, data domains and enterprise Risk function

  • Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes

  • Deep understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to work onsite per Wells Fargo's hybrid model in one of the listed locations
