OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director, Development, the Deputy Director, Development will be capable of forging new
relationships to advance the overall fundraising program at the Headquarters and Field Offices. This includes successfully building and implementing the development strategy of the organization. They will have 3-5
years of experience managing a team, being responsible for sustaining and growing our annual donor base and pipeline of prospects, and successfully identifying public and private funding sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the director's guidance,
- Work with key leaders across the organization to drive the development team's work, including long-term, annual, and day-to-day planning.
- Ensure ongoing communication and collaboration with the administrative, communications, and
program departments.
- Obtain a deep understanding of all program work and think creatively about how to make USCRI’s work come alive, inspiring more individuals and organizations to understand the challenges and
The importance of helping refugees and other uprooted people.
- In collaboration with the Directors of programs, expand the grants program, develop proposals and reports, and steward relationships with
existing foundation donors, cultivate new foundations, and develop strategies for aligning USCRI’s programmatic goals and projects with institutional donor interests.
- Develop and strengthen individual donor base systems, including tracking, thanking, and communicating with donors to cultivate larger gifts.
- Coordinate with program and field office Directors and executive leadership to monitor and respond to various funding opportunities reflecting the agency's priorities.
- Work closely with Communications to devise and implement marketing and campaign strategies for funding, advocacy efforts, and other coordinated communications to donors and the public in line with agency branding.
- Manage agency annual giving campaigns and support field office charitable events planning (e.g.
social events, fundraising, Friend-raisers, and other events throughout the year.
- Respond promptly to donor, funder, and partner inquiries, including managing shared email inboxes.
- Supervise and mentor assigned development staff at headquarters and in field offices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Ability to travel.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- 3-5 years of development, fundraising experience, preferably in nonprofits or corporate philanthropy, and management of dispersed staff.
- Experience fundraising for advocacy is a strong plus.
- Excellent communicator and storyteller; ability to make USCRI’s work come alive through inspiring written materials, stories of clients, and talking points.
- Experience working with private foundations, corporations, international donors, and agencies.
- Experience with donor management software, Donor Perfect or equivalent; WordPress; MailChimp
and other data management systems.
