As a Product Engineering Intern, you will help with the NAPA brand on the tender execution for different application products and new product introduction initiatives through follow up with the suppliers as an integral part in our process. You will review engineering drawings and documentation and participate in continuous improvement. Interns will do meaningful work through specific a project(s) and/or initiative(s) in their respective departments and make a final presentation at the conclusion of their internship. Interns will enjoy robust networking and personal development opportunities through formalized interactions with senior leadership, training workshops, and city-wide intern events. Responsibilities
Evaluate product categories to identify SKUs with high packaging cost savings opportunities
Develop packaging design/material solutions for high opportunity products
Work cross functionally to ensure alignment on any proposed packaging changes
Map out a front to back Engineering process for identifying, evaluating and executing packaging cost savings initiatives
Support Product Engineering with packaging cost savings opportunities for active and upcoming RFPs
Apply Engineering Problem solving techniques to resolve technical challenges
Assist team members in RFP-related tasks that help serve our customers better, with an eye for process improvement in these tasks; make recommendations to streamline / automate the same
Shadow team members on typical day-to-day activities to learn key critical activities in Product Engineering and Quality function in the organization
Qualifications
Currently a rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering, engineering management, mechanical engineering or other related field required.
Proficiency in MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical aptitude
Preferred Qualifications
3.25 GPA or above preferred.
Packaging related experience a plus.
Engineering CAD Design skills a plus.
Experience in the automotive industry a plus.
