5G Linux Systems Engineer

By working with Booz Allen Hamilton’s carrier-grade 5G Lab, you'll develop cutting edge telecommunication skills by supporting Booz Allen cutting-edge cloud-native 5G network as well as support ongoing vulnerability research, data science efforts, virtual and augmented reality programs, and much more. Our internal and client-supported work relies on the availability of our 5G Labs, and we need you to meet those expectations.

As a system engineer, you will apply your expertise managing virtualization 5G CNF and VNF solutions. You'll perform network design and integrate products enabling new capabilities in support of focused client research efforts. Since you’ve already mastered enterprise hardware and software management, you welcome the challenge of learning telecommunications architecture. Collaborating with internal and external teams, you bring creative solutions to new challenging problems.

You Have:

• Experience with enterprise Linux management, including Red Hat, CentOS, SUSE, Solaris, or Ubuntu

• Experience troubleshooting networking and software issues in Linux

• Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, Bash, or Ruby

• Experience with Podman or Docker

• Experience configuring switches

• Knowledge of Kubernetes

• Knowledge of operations and administration of virtualization software, such as KVM and ESXi

• Knowledge of OSI model

• Ability to obtain a security clearance

• HS diploma or GED and 10+ years of experience with Linux environments, or Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience with Linux environments

Nice if You Have:

• Experience with administering Kubernetes Clusters

• Experience with VCenter and ESXi Clusters

• Experience with Open vSwitch

• Experience with data analytics tools, such as Elasticsearch, Opensearch, or Kibana

• Experience with telecommunications networks and components, including 3G, 4G, and 5G
