Our National Medicaid Financing Practice (NMF) works with clients such as states, counties, health systems, safety net hospitals, academic medical centers, physicians, nursing facilities and medical schools navigate the opportunities to strengthen their Medicaid business through the conception, creation and implementation of programs designed to increase Medicaid reimbursement and leverage their unique capacities to deliver on the quality and value propositions growing in Medicaid.  Our teams work together to ensure that technical, policy and political solutions are created to ensure successful results for our clients, particularly in the area of Medicaid financing. 


About the Role


Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Senior Consultant for the National Medicaid Financing (NMF) Pennsylvania Practice provide client consulting services including providing objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in areas such as Medicaid financing, Managed Care and healthcare policy. As a Senior Consultant, you will manage a portfolio that involves financial and policy initiatives connected to Medicaid payment projects and consulting projects. You will provide project management, research, analysis, and consulting services to client teams and are responsible for direct service delivery and client satisfaction for large, complex, multi-year initiatives. You will also support the Associate Director(s)/Director and guides Consultant(s) through the project phases and client engagements. Team management will include setting goals, timelines, and guiding the discussion on strategies related to projects and problem solving with project leaders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform project related research, analysis, and consulting services to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Prepare documents to contextualize technical information into understandable narratives.
  • Participate in firmwide operations activities/meetings.
  • Participate in PA practice activities/meetings.
  • Prepare for and lead/participate in both internal team and external client meetings.
  • Focus on project management, including scheduling, creating agendas, drafting necessary meeting materials, capturing salient points and next steps, distributing assignments to team members, tracking follow up items, and ensuring that deadlines and assignments are accomplished in a timely and complete manner.
  • Develop consulting expertise that can be replicated in future projects.
  • Mentor/support coworkers at the consultant/associate level in understanding concepts of Medicaid finance specifically related to PA practice projects.
  • Anticipate, escalate and propose solutions for service, quality or risk issues.
  • Focus on learning and development.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-10 or more combined years in a policy management role and/or in consulting, healthcare industry required.
  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA preferred (or additional relevant experience in lieu of such advanced degree).
  • 5-10 years of progressively responsible work experience is required, preferably in health or human services policy research, consulting and/or in a healthcare service delivery environment, or 3+ years of post-graduate, progressively responsible work experience in consulting or operational experience in health care and/or health policy research/analysis.
  • Previous project/task management experience strongly desired; attention to detail, a must.
  • Experience delivering services on several projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with Medicaid preferred. Relevant experience in the federal, state or private healthcare industry sector strongly desired.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Share Point.
