About the Role:
As a Data Analyst within the OPIS Retail Fuels Division, you will use your analytical thinking to transform and analyze data. You will derive insights through deep and complex data analysis. You will create solutions that help automate improvements in and maintain our data quality. You will also work with other industries that utilize OPIS data, such as connected cars and mobile app/web clients who display OPIS real-time retail fuel prices and station information directly to consumers. You will report to the Executive Director of OPIS - Product Management, Data Transformation & Business Development.

OPIS Retail team members work with fuel retailers and convenience store operators to provide data and analytics that help them improve their business operations and run more profitably and efficiently. And, in a world where the reliance on fossil fuels is slowly diminishing as we look for cleaner and more sustainable energy options, OPIS is diversifying and future-proofing our business by expanding into clean energy, alternative fuels, and data and analytics for electric vehicles, while still providing world class data and products for the energy that moves us today. The high-growth OPIS Retail Data Team is based in the United States, with remote workers globally.
You Will:
- Help maintain the data quality for retail fuels pricing, station, margin, tax, market share and volume data across North America and Australia, eventually expanding globally
- Implement additional quality control checks and audits on a variety of datasets to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our data
- Focus on the large, complex challenges that impact our data quality
- Troubleshoot data issues, implement and develop new logic for automated data quality fixes, and interface with product development teams to deploy code that improves the accuracy and integrity of our fuel pricing and station data
- Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) and conduct quality and accuracy tests when onboarding new and potential data sources
- Be a product expert on our internal data quality tools
- Work with our product development teams to scope out and deliver enhancements to the tools that allow us to better manage our data in more automated and efficient ways
- Perform audits on existing data quality processes to ensure performance and relevancy long term
- Define and scope out custom files requested by our clients and interface with support and internal product development teams to deliver data that fits our client needs
- Assist our sales and customer support teams with client data requests including historical data files and information related to data methodology and quality
- Create proof of concepts for new product development efforts using all of our data sets
You Have:
- At least 2 years’ data analytics experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics or Mathematics (preferred) -OR- equivalent work experience
- Intermediate statistical analysis skills
- Familiarity with R and/or Python for data analysis
- Knowledge of SQL programming language
- Knowledge in data visualization/analytics tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau)
- Fluency in all Google Workspace applications (Mail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets)
- Advanced Excel expertise (pivot tables, macros, charts)
- Experience with Snowflake (preferred)
- Flexibility to work the following work schedule: 8:30 AM EST to 5:30 PM EST
