Senior Backend Engineer (f/m/x)

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will work on applications that use machine learning and satellite data to help companies and countries fight deforestation, to monitor critical infrastructure and to respond faster and more precisely to natural disasters, among other things. Our aim is to empower any user in the world to utilize the power of earth observation satellites to simplify and improve their daily work. To this end, you would architect, build and run Cloud-based backends and microservices using architectural and development best practices. As a young company, you can influence, improve and shape how we work, code and approach things extensively. 

You would be working in a cross-functional team of product managers, UX/UI designers, full-stack, frontend and DevOps engineers as well as machine learning and geospatial engineering experts.

Your challenge

• Design, build and run backends and microservices for existing and greenfield applications

• Refactor, redesign, rebuild existing services

• Become a key expert for backend and DevOps best practices in the company

• Align with other backend and infrastructure experts in the company and influence the evolution of our tech stack

• Mentor more junior and full-stack engineers and review their MRs

Your profile

• Experience as a Senior/Lead Backend and/or DevOps Software Engineer 

• Experience with Typescript and Python or any other modern language and the demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new language concepts 

• Significant knowledge in cloud-based software development, preferably on AWS

• Familiarity with modern software development, architecture and system design best practices

• Familiarity with NestJS is a plus

• Knowledge of Prefect, Argo or other workflow orchestration tools is a plus

• Experience with setting up robust CI/CD pipelines is a plus

• Knowledge of API Design best practices to improve the consumer developer experience is a plus

• A deep understanding of relational databases is a plus
