Clinical Nurse Educator

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

• The focus of the Clinical Nurse Educator is staff, patient/family, and community education.

SUPERVISION: Reports directly to Emergency Department Director

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Develops, coordinates and participates in the orientation process of new employees.
• Coordinates and maintains patient/family/staff education programs.
• Rounds/surveys staff to determine educational needs.
• Develops and maintains staff education and sign-in sheets.
• Prepares for and maintains ongoing readiness for regulatory surveys and compliance.
• Coordinates and participates in community/screening programs.
• Communicates with other departments/disciplines in providing quality education that supports patient care
• Develops and revises policies and procedures for Patient Care Services.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrate foresight.
• Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
• BSN required. MSN preferred.
• Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel
• Current RN License in Louisiana or multi-state compact license.

• Work requires a variety of physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, stooping or sitting for long periods of time.
