This self-starting individual is responsible for driving fundraising success for Breakthrough T1D’s Los Angeles Gala as well as additional LA-based donor events.  This position will also support the other Southern California Galas in Orange County and San Diego as needed.

Through collaboration and coordination with chapter staff and volunteer partners, the Development Manager will champion a strategic approach to signature events program development including volunteer leader recruitment and engagement, audience development, corporate sponsorship, and stewardship that will grow the program at all levels and ensure an extraordinary donor experience. 

The right person in this position is an integral member of the team, driving new business development, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising, chapter operations, and community engagement.  This includes identifying and engaging new donors; managing, evaluating, and expanding cultivation opportunities; oversight of various event activities, outreach, and education support.  He or she organizes and executes select administrative components of chapter operations that support the donor giving cycle, from qualification to stewardship.

The position is remote. Development Manager must be based in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with chapter staff as well as national/regional staff resources to ensure the Chapter’s revenue growth for our Signature Events (SE), with the primary focus on the Los Angeles Gala and including support of the Orange County and San Diego Galas.
  • Develop and execute long-range and short-range strategies and plans to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new donors.  Lead prospect research and develop engagement plans, activities, and correspondence to support interactions with prospects.
  • Manage volunteer committee development, sponsorship recruitment and retention strategies, audience development, budget, timeline, marketing/PR, logistics and best practice implementation.
  • Manage all components of the silent and live auctions for the Los Angeles Gala, including working with the committee to procure highly desirable auction items, to ensure robust & successful live and silent auctions, and supporting the OC & SD Gala auctions, as needed. 
  • Identifies, builds, and stewards relationships with community, civic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor engagement.
  • Assist with all chapter operations including administrative support and management of the CRM database including CRM updates, duplications, and reports.
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and volunteers, as agreed upon with direct supervisor, and track significant communications, meetings, and stewardship activities in CRM database.
  • Monitor and analyze KPI reports related to signature events and other chapter metrics. Notify and work with direct supervisor to develop strategies if targets are falling short.
  • Manage Signature Event communications calendar and email communications using Salesforce Marketing Cloud for the LA gala.
  • Collaborate with national resource team to ensure Greater Giving and Word Press websites are created in a timely manner for the LA Gala – manage and update throughout the duration of the event.
  • Utilize and manage the SE-related posts for the Los Angeles community social media (IG & Facebook) to increase visibility and promote Gala-related programs and events.
  • Ensures personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to volunteers and other department requests.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records and help ensure that the logistics, budget, and timelines are met.
  • Assists with event planning and execution for components of other chapter initiative
