PART TIME RESEARCH SCHOLAR

New York University Tandon School of Engineering

 

The Mechatronics Laboratory at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Part Time Research Scholar to work with Prof. Vikram Kapila. New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Research in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering includes robotics and automation, additive manufacturing, nanotechnology and materials engineering, computational engineering, biomechanics, and healthcare applications.

 

Expectations

• Responsible for testing equipment, helping determine applicability of equipment for future research work, and overseeing the movement of equipment to a new location. 

• Supervising and mentoring at least one graduate student assistant. 

 

Expected start date and period of employment

Expected start date is December 1. This position is expected to be for 2 months. Part time appointments would require a work schedule of approximately 10 hours per week.

 

Salary range

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate will be $30/hour depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

 

 

Qualifications

 

• Candidates should have at least a [MS/PhD] in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

• At least 2 years of experience in mechatronics as demonstrated by a strong publication record

• Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
