About the role

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking self-driven and resourceful Senior Network Engineers to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team of network and UC engineers in Alexandria, VA. The team provides IT hardware and software to support the goals of the contract, including performance based C4IM services, product support, and O&M for both legacy and newly installed systems.

 

Peraton has served as the prime contractor for the network contract since its inception in 1984. We provide executive-level government leaders reliable security voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment for day-today crisis management. We provide a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications operating over a dedicated Internet Protokol (IP) backbone with secure services for complex national and worldwide executive-level communications. Peraton provides the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and task support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions.

 

The ideal candidate shall possess both the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification. Specific hands-on technical experience with Cisco collaboration tools, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)/ Cisco CallManager (CM), and Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and Meeting Server/ VQ is highly desirable.

 

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will bring your years of experience and expertise to propel the team to success and will be a pivotal member of a team that drives work forward within the program. The work is hands-on and requires engineers that can work with limited guidance, and you will provide technical guidance to junior engineers. You will support the creation and review of network designs, conduct hardware evaluations in a lab, and with vendors. An excellent candidate will not shy away from writing a test plan or reading through vendor’s technical documents to solve a problem and write a resolution report.

 

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Create/modify network drawings, author system engineering documents and plans
  • Support design, test, and pre-deployment readiness reviews
  • Support the network operations of the Production system
  • Provides team with recommendations on modern engineering approaches and strategies to improve successful task order deployments
  • Develops, implements, and manages network engineering processes including configuration management and design standards to ensure contract compliance, technological relevancy, and sustainability
  • Performs capacity planning of the network by monitoring and analyzing network performance and availability
  • Pro-actively researches and evaluates tools and technologies, as appropriate, to the network environment, while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownership

** This role requires flexibility with scheduled support of occasional ASI/outages after hours and on weekends **

 

** This role is approved for Hybrid support, Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location. May require up to 10% travel, based on customer needs **

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and eight (8) years relevant experience; or a  Master’s degree and six (6) years of relevant experience; or a PhD and three (3) years of experience; or a High School Diploma/GED and 12 relevant years of experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a completed higher education degree.
  • Must possess both a CCNA Certification and CCNP Certification.
  • Experience with the design, implementation, and support of network infrastructure solutions for routing and switching of complex networks.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies leveraging ethernet, T-Carrier, and Optical Carrier circuits.
  • Experience and understanding of networking fundamentals such as network protocols and common services (e.g., DNS, FTP, SSH, SNMP).
  • Experience and understanding of CCNA and CCNP layer 2 and 3 network configurations to include OSPF EIGRP, BGP, VLANS, and IPSEC enabled GRE tunnels as well as basic CallManger phone provisioning tasks.
