About the Position: Do Work that Matters
The Lead Systems Analyst reports to the Director of Advancement Systems and will collaborate extensively with other members of the Advancement division, Kenyon’s IT team, and various other College departments. The Lead Systems Analyst is a key partner in developing new functionality in our customer relationship management (CRM) system called Slate for Advancement, developed by Technolutions, and will also build out solutions with our other tools, including AI applications. The work ahead will focus on building out capabilities, enhancing data visibility through dashboards and reports, improving user experience, and streamlining processes.
Responsibilities
Functional development and management of Advancement systems
- Support systems functionality and data critical to Advancement’s work. This includes functionality supporting reporting and analytics, email communications, and event registrations, as well as data related to alumni, parents, and other constituents.
- Analyze and modify the Slate system and its features in anticipation of and in response to the changing needs of the system’s users.
- Research and define best practices for storage of new information, reporting, and new technologies.
- Work with other college offices (accounting, career development, admissions, president’s office, IT, registrar, etc.) to facilitate and coordinate flow of appropriate data among the various divisions of the College.
- Develop new solutions to improve Advancement’s understanding of data through reports and analytics, improve efficiency and enhance capabilities.
- Support account management and security.
- Support end-of-fiscal-year activities.
Programming
- Use SQL and Slate to create and maintain queries, reports, and forms for the Advancement division and other offices as appropriate.
- Extract and prepare data for multiple surveys including industry-wide surveys.
User Support and Training
- Provide Slate technical support for 45+ users.
- Troubleshoot problems related to all Advancement data and systems.
- Assist in training Advancement staff in the use of Slate and other systems.
- Assist with determining training needs of new and veteran staff members and for scheduling classes or individual sessions to meet their needs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong technical skills paired with the ability to understand the divisions’ needs, develop high quality solutions, and communicate those solutions to users.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing. Willingness to communicate proactively and to respond promptly to communication from others, as appropriate.
- Proven ability to work with a high degree of independence, maintain confidentiality, and manage time effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Minimum Qualifications:
We value both education and experience. A successful candidate should be comfortable with data technology, be curious, and love to learn. These are the minimum requirements for a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or a combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- At least two years of professional experience in a technology-related field.
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, using AI as a tool to improve processes and analyze data.
Preferred Qualifications:
These are preferred qualifications for a successful candidate:
- College level courses or equivalent experience in programming, systems analysis, and/or database administration.
- Knowledge of SQL programming - design, coding and testing, Microsoft SQL Server DBMS and/or scripting languages such as Python, R, Po
