Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a talented Senior Engineer / Software Developer to join our Defensive Threat Systems Modeling and Simulation (M&S) team supporting the warfighter and prominent acquisition and intelligence programs within the Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC). The candidate will be part of a team performing modeling and simulation of defensive weapon systems of peer/near-peer adversaries. The principal focus will be on missile systems comprising missile dynamics; target acquisition and tracking; 6-DOF missile flyout, command, and seeker endgame; network-centric warfare techniques; command-and-control (C2/C4); and advanced missile guidance techniques.

Engineering tasks may include:

1.) Subsystem- and system-level modeling and simulation derived from all-source intelligence data;
2.) Filling in gaps in intelligence data using knowledge of weapon systems, missile dynamics, electronic warfare, guidance systems, etc.
3.) Algorithm and technique development such as guidance law selection, adaptive guidance techniques, missile flight control, and seeker signal processing
4.) Integration of system models into engagement-level and mission-level systems-of-systems (SoS) simulations
5.) Development and/or integration of high-fidelity missile flight dynamics and environmental effects such as terrain masking and atmospheric conditions
6.) Missile guidance algorithm design and development
7.) Automated unit, system and SoS test planning, development and execution; support of small and large-scale simulation studies

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Participating in the design, development, test, and maintenance of software models simulating and/or emulating real-world, adversarial (threat) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) Systems within TMAP STIMS 2.0, STIMS 3.0, NOVA TMAP, and/or LIVE modeling frameworks

  • Engineering analysis of real-life threat weapon systems supplementing all available all-source intelligence assessments informing software model lifecycle including development, maintenance, and study support

  • Understanding, refinement, communication, and tracking of software model requirements

  • Deep understanding of real-world threat weapon system characteristics, capabilities, and limitations and the digital twin that represents that system

  • Developing software using MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and/or Python

  • Leading technical discussions to assist in near- and long-term planning

  • Working closely with the customer to understand and deliver quality products that accomplish the mission

  • Understanding and/or developing engineering designs supplied by the customer and working with a team to develop software models that represent the weapon system at the fidelity necessary to meet customer goals

Required Clearance:

  • Candidate must be willing and able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience, OR Master’s with 5+ years of experience, OR Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience

  • Competency in C++, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, or a similar programming language

  • Subject-matter expertise in missile dynamics, guidance algorithms, autopilot systems, airframe processing, seeker technology, propulsion systems, and/or electronic countermeasures

  • Ability to contribute to the overall strategic planning of the modeling team

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience with threat weapon system modeling in TMAP, ODESSA, ESAMS, AFSIM, LIVE and/or ITASE

  • Experience with STIMS 2.0 (Simulink), STIMS 3.0 (C++), NOVA, and/or LIVE modeling frameworks/standards

  • Software development in a DevOps or DevSecOps environment, including experience with configuration control systems such as Git

  • Experience working in an AGILE software development team

  • Mentoring experience

  • Experience designing, developing, or operating code for a distributed processing environment

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
