We are seeking a student with strong data management skills (preferably with a strong interest in human services) for approximately 10 to 20 hours/week during Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (will accommodate school schedule) to assist with the data reporting of homelessness in Idaho. The Homelessness Programs department of Idaho Housing and Finance Association assists homelessness response agencies in 43 counties in the goal of making homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:
Assisting with preparations for Federal reporting:
- As the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Lead, Idaho Housing and Finance is responsible for the management of a system in which homeless response providers enter client level data. The intern will assist with preparing Federal reporting.
Data Requests / Annual Homelessness report:
- The intern will likely be assigned independent work with data requests. The intern will assist with compiling the State of Homelessness in Idaho report.
Technical assistance to providers:
- Data entry related technical assistance to providers (direct data entry is not a task of this position).
Data Analysis:
- There may be some data analysis work, possibly examining gaps in services to people experiencing homelessness.
Use of SAP BusinessObjects, an enterprise software specializing in business intelligence:
- Depending on the selected person, the intern may do some work with SAP BusinessObjects, an enterprise software which works as a drag and drop business intelligence platform. The customized reports made here help us with reporting, data requests and gaps analysis.
Committee Work:
- The Homelessness Programs department works continuously with the entity referred to as the Continuum of Care (CoC) for all counties in Idaho except Ada County. The CoCs responsibility is to work to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. There may be participation observing committee work which will include correspondence and minute taking.
May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong Excel skills, some experience with drag and drop business intelligence platform, familiarity with Microsoft applications, good writing and interpersonal communication skills. A desire to work in social programs, non-profit human services, or grant administration, especially if demonstrated in course work or experience is highly valued.
