In this position...
- The Director, AI & Insights is accountable for the performance and results of the AI and Insights team across Ford Credit. The role builds, leads and mentors a team of data scientists, machine learning (ML) engineers, generative AI experts, data analysts, and statisticians.
- The role oversees the understanding of business problems, and the subsequent solutioning and building AI workflows or models that solve the business pain point.
- The role overseas the workload distribution of the team, and addresses technical complexities and removes barriers for the team work effectively.
What you'll do...
- Builds & Runs Strong AI Teams: Builds, leads and mentors a team of data scientists, ML engineers, genAI experts, and data analysts; develops and executives’ strategies for attracting and retaining top AI talent.
- Perfects the Work Pipeline: Oversees distribution, scoping, and assignment of work, and monitors the volume of workload for emerging trends and guides the complex technical challenges.
- Ensures We’re Working on the Right Use Cases: Leads alignment of AI initiatives with business requirements, analyses datasets to determine suitable approaches that meet business needs and supports decision-making.
- Is a Technical Hands-On Lead: Leads teams’ efforts on prediction and extraction of meaningful trends, patterns, and recommendations from data using data science methodologies, including ML, predictive modeling, math, statistics, generative AI and other advanced analytics.
- Communicates with Clarity: Conveys technical concepts and capabilities to others at their level of expertise; can present clear and crisp articulations of problems that are being solved using AI.
- Maintains Cross-Collaboration: Regularly works with the MLOps, data engineering, platform, and enterprise architecture teams to make sure that AI models are compatible with the wider Ford Credit ecosystem.
- Makes Sure Everything is Monitored: Ensures that all models are appropriately monitored, robust, and available; when models no longer work, they are discovered quickly and remedy applied as soon as possible.
- Ensures Existing Models are Efficient and Accurate: Leads implementation of strategies for enhancing analysis efficiency, accuracy, and robustness in data science and machine learning projects that already exists.
- Takes a Long-Term View of Organization: Works with Head of AI to implement processes & practices that are conducive to ensuring Ford Credit enterprise goals are reached.
- Plans for Scalability: Works with the MLOps team to ensure scalability and security, in all aspects of model development, ensuring models can handle increasing volumes of data as the organization grows.
- Keeps us on Budget: Ensures that infrastructure costs and model costs are appropriate against the ROI being gained from the use case. Monitors cloud usage to ensure best practices are implemented to minimize cost.
- Develops the Team: Performs talent management responsibilities including performance management, disciplinary action, terminations, recruitment, pay decisions, and other personnel actions for the AI team.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, mathematics, econometrics, or any other related discipline that has heavy use of those concepts.
- Minimum 6 years of related work experience with a Doctorate degree, 10 years of related work experience with a Master’s degree, 12 years related work experience with a Bachelors Degree
- Involves occasional (defined as one-third or less of the time) lifting of no more than 10 pounds at a time. Work is performed primarily in a seated position and entails no significant stooping, standing, climbing, walking, etc. Many sedentary jobs require good use of the hands and fingers
