At Raytheon Technologies (RTX), we are dedicated to solving tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux-based infrastructure solutions that support mission-critical systems. You will contribute to both traditional infrastructure design and emerging DevOps/DevSecOps technologies, ensuring the seamless integration of modernized system architectures.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise to improve system performance, drive automation, and support technical exchange meetings to deliver innovative solutions. Your work will directly impact the success of our programs, enabling us to support our nation’s defense and security objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure solutions, including compute, storage, and networking systems
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Java, Perl, Ruby, or Tcl/Tk to streamline system operations and deployments
  • Manage and maintain the COTS stack, ensuring consistent versioning across the platform
  • Utilize markup languages (YML, XML, JSON) and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and Bitbucket to enhance system functionality
  • Support software deployment and integration processes to meet program requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system design and architecture using emerging technologies
  • Participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) and provide project status updates as required
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements and standards while supporting system upgrades and updates


 

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and Linux-based tools
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Java, Perl, Ruby, or Tcl/Tk
  • Experience with markup languages, including YML, XML, and JSON
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and Bitbucket
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance is required after Day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance


 

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools, including Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, Helm, and Rancher
  • Knowledge of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)
  • Experience with IT Service Management tools such as ServiceNow and Atlassian (Jira, Confluence)
  • Understanding of Agile project management and Scrum methodology
  • Background in systems operations or engineering, supporting large, complex IT environments
