Job Description:

The Cubiscan Operator role within the Distribution Center (“DC”) of Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and
“Company”) is responsible for capturing and validating volume (dimensions and weight), conveyability,
Universal Product Codes (“UPC”) and Tie-Height (“TI/HI”) for all inbound inventory received into the
DC in a manner that meets Company-established standards in safety, quality, and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Using the Cubiscan software, measure and weigh every stock keeping unit (“SKU”) so that the material master data is accurately represented in the DC’s warehouse management system. 
  • Determine conveyability of every SKU and update the warehouse management system to reflect the SKU attributes, including UPC, cube, conveyability, and dimensions.
  • Capture the UPC and ensure every item received has an accurate volume and induction code.
  • Perform daily inspection and sign out of equipment. Document equipment failures and inconsistencies.
  • Verify the case packs and descriptions on all items captured.
  • Properly scan all UPCs on every item received.
  • Print License Plate Numbers (“LPN”), price labels, and UPCs for the Receiver responsible for the load and include induction point marking on conveyable freight.
  • Daily review and capture of volume on all items without a volume.
  • Troubleshoot discrepancies including, but not limited to, price changes or incorrect prices, UPC printing errors, and volume issues.
  • Receive and sort merchandise into warehouse inventory with real time radio frequency (“RF”) scanner to facilitate reporting of shortages, overages, and damages.
  • Verify accuracy of freight and escalate any discrepancies to the Receiving Manager.
  • Ensure pallets are built in accordance with Company-established requirements.
  • Work in compliance with Company-established standard operating procedures, audit-control procedures, and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean work space to meet or exceed area safety, quality, and productivity standards.
  • For all closeout buys, collect sample SKUs for delivery to the appropriate OSJL buyer. Monitor and track the samples to ensure their return to the DC.
  • File all worksheets and records in accordance with Company-established requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience as a Receiver in a warehouse setting is preferred but not required. 
  • Expected to learn specific training on equipment, processes, and all receiving functions ensuring an understanding of the Receiving function.
  • Successful completion of the Powered Equipment Training, Area Training, and Associate Proficiency Tests.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to comply with established standards.
  • Ability to properly use an RF Scanner and a wrapping machine.
  • Ability to meet area productivity, quality, safety, housekeeping, and attendance standards.
  • Successful training and completion of  equipment operations in alignment with OSHA standards.
  • Ability to operate industrial powered equipment and obtain any associated licensing.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills as required for a team environment.
