We’re in growth mode and looking to add a dynamic Data Security Engineer reporting to our Director, Information Security Engineering.
Job Description
- Proactively identify and address data security concerns while fostering a culture of data security awareness within the organization.
- Collaborate with the Data, Legal, and Audit Teams to ensure data security controls align with data governance frameworks, principles, classification models and labeling.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data security strategy aligned with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, data security policies, procedures and standards..
- Recommend data security controls for integration into data lifecycle management processes while staying up-to-date on the latest security threats and trends.
- Monitor and manage data access controls and ensure appropriate authorization is granted.
- Evaluate, recommend data security technology tools to configure and manage data security infrastructure, including access control systems, data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, and other data-related security tools.
- Effectively collaborate and communicate data security risks and best practices to various stakeholders, business leaders, engineering teams, while implementing data security measures.
- Assist with security audits and penetration testing when appropriate.
- Participate and/or conduct data security risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in data security and/or information security.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance principles, frameworks, data security policies, procedures, and standards.
- Expertise in data security technologies and tools, including access control, DLP, and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
- Experience working with data classification and labeling systems.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirements for data security.
- Experience with specific data security regulations, such as PCI, NYDFS, CCPA, ISO, NIST and/or SoX.
- Experience with cloud security and data security in the cloud environment.
- Preferred 4 year degree information technology, engineering, or information security
- Preferred experience working in a financial industry or fintech company.
- Preferred security certifications such as the following:
- ISC2 (CISSP, CC, CCSP)
- ISACA (CISA, CISM, CDPSE), CCSP
- Other relevant security certification(s)
Bonus: Programming experience (e.g., SQL, bash, powershell, Ruby on Rails, Golang).

Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000
