POSITION SPECIFICS
The Learning Design Team within the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking an Instructional Production Specialist (IPS) Supervisor. Working collaboratively with our Instructional Designers, the person in this position will provide maintenance and technical support of the college’s online courses as well as oversee a team of Instructional Production Specialists.
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
Provide maintenance and technical support of online courses in Canvas under the guidance of the Instructional Designers
Troubleshoot and respond to instructor and student technical concerns with the online courses
Assist Instructional Designers with placing course content and assessments into Canvas
Assist with student accommodations and broader accessibility remediation of course content
Hold one-on-one meetings and group meetings with the IPS team, approve time off, and conduct yearly goal setting and evaluations
Assist in training new staff and coordinating ongoing professional development for the IPS team
Work with the Learning Design team members to troubleshoot issues and test new Canvas features and other technology tools
In addition to Canvas, the Instructional Production Specialist Supervisor may use the following tools and applications: Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Turnitin, VoiceThread, Kaltura, and LionPATH (Penn State’s student information system).
Qualifications:
Excellent project management and time management skills
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Demonstrated problem-solving skills
Experienced with Canvas (or other Learning Management System) and some knowledge of HTML (web markup language)
Familiarity with WCAG 2.1, Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
Attentive to detail
MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS
Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None
