Compensation

Hourly base pay rate is $21.49 - $32.26/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Description

Responsible for assembling, installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing electric vehicle batteries. Operating under the supervision of the Supervisor, Battery Maintenance, the role focuses on battery diagnostics, refurbishment, and repurposing in a fast-paced production environment. The technician ensures battery systems are safe, functional, and ready for deployment, contributing directly to the reliability and performance of EV operations.

Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicle batteries.
  • Uses electrical test equipment to verify battery functionality.
  • Disassembles cells, inspects for defects, and replaces faulty parts.
  • Reassembles and fuses battery components as needed.
  • Fills cells with acid, checks solution gravity, and adjusts concentration.
  • Connects chargers, monitors meters, and adjusts charging parameters.
  • Conducts discharge tests and performs necessary repairs.
  • Cleans and neutralizes batteries.
  • Maintains and repairs battery charging systems.
  • Packages battery packs and components for shipment.
  • Performs basic diagnostics to identify and fix battery issues for reuse.
  • Sorts materials and tests battery performance.
  • Follows safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Ensures work meets quality standards and supports operational goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updates to the Alfred CMMS database with relevant maintenance and production data to support operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; or 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Must be a current EVBS contractor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Requires strong knowledge of EV batteries, working with hand and power tools as well as basic computers skills needed to enter information into databases, and check and respond to emails.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills as week as excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
  • Ability to read written operating instructions
  • Commitment to Safety and quality
  • Experience in EV Batteries or the automotive field.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Work Environment:  Subject to Manufacturing or warehouse environment which may or may not be climate controlled.

Physical Requirements:

  • Individual lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Constant sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, lifting
  • Good hand and finger dexterity; hand and eye coordination
  • Physical ability and mental acuity to execute duties successfully within required timeframes under safety guidelines
  • Standard PPE includes safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protection, and safety footwear, other PPE may be required for specific tasks.
