About the Team

We are seeking a technical product leader to serve as the Sr. Director, Payments Intelligence. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of a product team focused on developing AI/ML-powered data enrichment and consumer insight products. These products are tightly integrated with Capital One’s application and platform ecosystem and are vital for creating innovative customer experiences and protecting the financial well-being of our customers across all segments.

Key Responsibilities and Focus

  • Platform Strategy and Vision: Define and prioritize the platform's strategy, grounded in deep technical knowledge and a strong understanding of user experience.

  • Stakeholder Alignment and Partnership: Build strong, trust-based partnerships with product and technical leaders across the organization. Effectively navigate a matrixed environment to align and prioritize high-leverage initiatives that benefit the broader community.

  • User Empathy and Impact: Empathize with both internal (first-line) and end-users. Steer the platform's development to achieve the greatest impact on outcomes for both internal users (developers, AI engineers, data scientists, analysts, and PMs) and end customers.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with technology, data science, strategy, risk, and business teams to deliver immediate value while strategically advancing long-term goals.

  • Passion for AI and Emerging Tech: Advocate for the transformative power of AI. Maintain a genuine interest in how Generative AI and intelligent automation can remove friction, automate repetitive tasks, and scale the impact of the team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Technical Visionary: A leader who successfully blends deep technical knowledge with strong user empathy to create high-performing, intuitive solutions.

  • Internal Product Expert: Demonstrated track record of building products for a diverse internal audience (developers, AI engineers, data scientists).

  • Proven Leader: Significant experience as a technical Product Manager and a leader of high-performing product management teams.

  • AI/ML Fluent: Working familiarity with enterprise-level AI/ML infrastructure and tooling.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 9 years of experience working in Product Management

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: 

    • A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems or a related quantitative field)

    • A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Inform
