We’re hiring seasoned engineers to join our teams that work on customer-facing products, developing features and iterating across our platform to help define the customer financial journey at Gusto. Our goal at Gusto is to strengthen our customers' financial wellness and to deliver a consistently great experience across all of our products.

 

We’re looking for talented and motivated engineers to lead and grow projects end-to-end by influencing initial feature specs, building backend APIs, writing frontend code, and overseeing ongoing improvements for deployed features. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Lead and contribute to the development of cutting-edge projects within the Tax Credits ecosystem, with a particular focus on integrating Generative AI, Machine Learning, LLM.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and take the initiative to enhance engineering processes and structures.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to software engineers, fostering their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tackle complex and ambiguous problems, translating them into engineering solutions that drive our Tax Credits platform forward.
  • Continuously stay up-to-date with advancements in AI and Machine Learning, applying this knowledge to our projects.
  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and performance.
  • Actively participate in code reviews, maintain code quality, and contribute to thorough testing.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to understand project requirements and deliver innovative solutions.

 

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience as a technical lead, overseeing the work of multiple teams on projects
  • Experience architecting, building and testing large-scale production level code
  • Proven experience in Generative AI, Machine Learning, LLM is essential. You should have a track record of successfully applying techniques to real-world projects.
  • An aptitude for tackling complex and ambiguous problems, distilling them into effective engineering solutions that drive innovation.

 

Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $144,000/yr to $231,000/yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $174,000/yr to $272,000/yr for San Francisco & New York. Stock equity is additional. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.

Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas. 

When approved to work from a location other than a Gusto office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
