<p>Alexion rare disease business unit is part of a global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca focused on developing and delivering life-transforming therapies for patients with devastating and rare diseases. We are driven because we know people's lives depend on our work.</p><p>Alexion is committed to developing a variety of Genomic Medicines for the treatment of rare diseases. We have a portfolio of Adeno-Associated Virus (AAV) vectors that are being developed to deliver novel genetic therapies to patients for disease prevention and treatment, spanning multiple disease areas. We will also explore other Genomic Medicine modalities for the prevention and treatment of rare diseases, including non-viral vector delivery, Gene Editing, and ex vivo Cell Therapies.</p><p>Cell and Gene therapy manufacturing technology is advancing rapidly and the Alexion Operations team recognises that it is vital to have a robust manufacturing and supply chain infrastructure in place to ensure that patients can access therapeutics as efficiently as possible. </p><p>We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join the Global Supply Chain & Strategy team to help in developing the manufacturing and supply strategy for these novel therapies and to provide supply chain expertise into this critical project. This individual will work closely with other CMC and Operations functions to ensure harmonized strategies are executed to ensure on-time delivery of cell and gene therapy products through clinical development and through to launch and commercialisation.</p><p></p><p></p><p>Principal Responsibilities</p><p>Provide leadership and support to the identification, evaluation and selection of partners for the supply of starting materials, drug substance, drug product, finished goods and distribution.</p><p>Providing technical leadership to the development of the manufacturing strategy for Alexion RDU Genomic Medicine portfolio, including input Make versus Buy decisions.</p><p>Serve as the Supply Chain Subject Matter Expert and establish internal guidelines, procedures and business processes for the manufacture and supply of Genomic Medicines.</p><p>Partner with various functions from GSC&S, PDCS, Reg, GMMA, IT etc. to develop the supply chain for commercialization of Alexion RDU genomic medicines (including network strategy, route to patient etc).</p><p>Develop and drive roadmap of activites and critical tasks to be completed from now to launch and commercialization for the genomic medicines.</p><p>Collaborate with AZ to identify any synergies on cell therapy and gene therapy for supply chain setup i.e. distribution partners, track and trace etc.</p><p>Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field of cell and gene therapy.</p><p></p><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>Bachelors’ degree in business or scientific discipline required. Advanced degree a plus.</li><li>Minimum of ten years’ experience in a supply chain/partner relationship roles </li><li>Thorough knowledge of the biopharma industry and biologics manufacturing (in specific cell and gene therapy)</li><li>Must be able to create a highly collaborative and inclusive environment necessary for the cross-functional teams to be effective</li><li>Intercultural experience and ability to act in a complex and rapidly changing business environment</li><li>Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry supply chain processes and lean philosophy</li><li>Ability to bridge between scientific, technical and business functions for effective collaboration and driving results</li><li>Proven track record of achievement and delivery of team goals.</li><li>Strong understanding of Regulatory landscape desirable</li><li>Knowledge of clinical and commercial manufacturing and distribution issues that impact project/product strategy and planning desirable</li><li>Strong Alliance/contract management experience working with external customers </li><li>Ability to translate complex supply scenarios into a format that our partners and internal stakeholders can easily understand </li><li>Experience in successfully leading an effective team </li><li>Business process management </li><li>Previous experience within a leadership team </li><li>Strategy Scenario Planning and Risk management </li><li>Development and/or Regulatory experience </li><li>Drug development process knowledge </li><li>Ability to influence at a senior level </li></ul><p></p><p></p><p>Education</p><ul><li>Bachelors’ degree in business or scientific discipline required.
