Job Overview:

Gottstein Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including ledger management, reconciliation, financial reporting, and compliance audits. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent numerical proficiency, and the ability to handle financial information confidentially. This position will report to and work directly with the CFO.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Financial Reporting and Management: Assist in preparation of accurate monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Account Reconciliation: Review reconciliation of bank statements and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the general ledger.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting processes.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist with external preparation of tax returns and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with financial laws and regulations.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist with accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections, as needed.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct regular ledger maintenance and financial analysis to support strategic financial decisions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of staff accounting experience.
  • Accounting Experience in the construction or industrial sector is a plus.

Skills:

 

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and databases (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

This is a full-time position that may require additional hours during financial closing periods or audit seasons.
