Shriners Children's Twin Cities has an opportunity for a Per Diem Senior Child Life Specialist to join our team!
The Senior Child Life Specialist position is responsible for mentoring staff in the provision of comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive, family-centered care. This care is focused on meeting the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and families.
Responsibilities
Provides evaluation and therapeutic services, direct patient care and patient/family education, in an efficient manner. Services may include therapeutic play, preparation, procedural support, special events, and reintegration programming. The child life specialist utilizes these practices in an effort to facilitate adaptive coping techniques and promote normal growth and development of the patient and family.Exhibits leadership skills through activities (i.e. staff mentoring, new employee orientation, and oversite of the clinical education of students).Supports the ongoing development and improvement of the department through participation in special projects, performance improvement and facility committees.Is responsible for professional growth and development through ongoing education.In cooperation with other local leaders, offers exceptional care following the Shriners Children's FOCUSED©™ program, a system-wide model for professional practice that stresses and emphasizes patient –centered care, or always putting the needs of the patients (and their families) first.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field required.
Masters degree in Child Life, Child Development or related field preferred.
HS/GED required
Certification/Licensure
Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required
CPR/BLS (per hospital policy)Valid driver’s license (per hospital policy)
Experience
Five years pediatric experience required
