Group Lead

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Lead to join our growing team.

 

This position reports to James Caskaddon, Group Manager on 1st Shift.

 

Ensure smooth and efficient operations of the shipping and loading departments. Responsible for coordinating the activities of employees engaged in product handling, shipping, storage and transportation.  

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of products.  
• Monitor, direct and evaluate performance of Loading and Delivery personnel.   
• Determine work procedures and prepare work schedules to expedite workflow.  
• Determine shipping priority, work assignments and the appropriate shipping method to meet delivery commitments.  
• Negotiate freight rates and arrange transportation that optimizes service and cost.  
• Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with all packaging and safety specifications.  
• Investigate and solve customer problems and issues.  
• Monitor and maintain all CDL or Intra State driver logs to ensure compliance.  
• Remain current on all CDL Driver qualification requirements, regulations and rules.
• Oversee all delivery vehicle maintenance schedules.
• Responsible for packing up and shipping out service units and / or parts.
• Responsible for filling in for department manager when they are out of office, paperwork, dock scans, invoicing and closing out trailers and sending out shipping notification emails to the customers in a timely manner.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
