Summary
The Sales Training Lead for Commercial and Business Banking is responsible for designing, delivering, and refining a consultative sales training program that equips bankers to deepen client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and position the bank as a trusted advisor. This role blends sales strategy with real-world application, leveraging curiosity-based questioning, business acumen, and structured relationship-building frameworks to enhance banker performance across the commercial and business banking segments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and facilitate engaging training experiences focused on prospecting, discovery, relationship deepening, and pipeline management for commercial and business bankers.
- Develop and refine a structured curriculum based on curiosity-driven questions, client segmentation, and needs-based selling.
- Train bankers on industry-specific insight generation and question-led discovery techniques to enhance client conversations.
- Align training programs to the bank’s enterprise sales process and key performance metrics.
- Support onboarding of new bankers with tailored learning paths and role-based coaching sessions.
- Partner with market leaders and credit partners to integrate credit awareness and balance sheet insight into sales approaches.
- Analyze sales performance trends and adapt training content to address gaps in behavior, results, or skill execution.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on consultative selling and commercial relationship strategy.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years in commercial or business banking, sales leadership, or B2B training roles.
- Proven success developing or delivering consultative sales programs.
- Strong communication, coaching, and facilitation skills.
- Knowledge of commercial lending, treasury management, and deposit acquisition strategies.
- Experience with curiosity-based or advisory sales methodologies (e.g., Challenger, SPIN, Sandler, etc.) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Education, or related field.
