JOB PURPOSE / POSITION OVERVIEW
The senior accountant's responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The senior accountant will work directly with the Controller, CFO, and other key finance team members; in addition, the role will require building strong working relationships with senior operations leaders.
Haydon Companies is a multi-entity conglomeration requiring intercompany and consolidation entries on a monthly basis. To be successful as a senior accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also have construction industry experience, possess strong Excel skills, including advanced functions, PowerQuery and data models; be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work in a team environment with both accounting/finance and operations.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participation in and preparation in our monthly Work in Process procedures.
• Preparing consolidation and elimination entries.
• Interfacing monthly Owner Pay Apps and tracking.
• Preparing daily cash entries based on information received from Treasury.
• Assisting with annual audit preparations.
• Analyzing job cost reports and preparing needed job cost entries.
• Analyze financial reporting for discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Controllers or CFO’s attention.
• Preparing financial analyses and reports.
• Participating in the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, amortization schedules.
• Fixed Asset management.
• Assisting the Controller with miscellaneous projects.
• Working with Accounts Payable.
• Conduct regular ledger maintenance.
• Preparing and reconciling various balance sheet accounts
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (KSA’s, Education, YOE)
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (Required).
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong financial analysis skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational skills and adaptable to changing working requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Mastery in Microsoft Office, particularly with the advanced functions of Excel.
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Proficiency in PowerBI, PowerQuery, data models, DAX and SQL.
• Understanding construction industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
• Proven track record of making an impact with operations teams.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista.
