The Senior Systems Engineer reports directly to the IT Manager. This position is responsible for researching, designing, and implementing a variety of solutions related to the IT and Cybersecurity infrastructure of LiveOak Fiber. The Senior Systems Engineer will aid in standardizing processes, building solutions based on critical company needs, and maintain detailed documentation on all work.
The Senior Systems Engineer reports directly to the IT Manager. This position is responsible for researching, designing, and implementing a variety of solutions related to the IT and Cybersecurity infrastructure of LiveOak Fiber. The Senior Systems Engineer will aid in standardizing processes, building solutions based on critical company needs, and maintain detailed documentation on all work.
Essential Duties & Job Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1-3 support and administration.
- Configure and manage enterprise directory and service applications, including MS Office 365, Azure Active Directory, Intune, Microsoft Defender, etc.
- Design, implement, and manage flows and automation across all Microsoft products.
- Engineer solutions and standardize processes for Microsoft 365 administration centers (Teams, Azure AD, Exchange Admin Center).
- Support Remote Access Systems.
- Configure, deploy, and manage Apple products with Intune device management.
- Configure, deploy, and track enterprise and end-user software applications and subscriptions.
- Support after-hours/on-call efforts such as system updates and data transfers.
- Assist cybersecurity team in engineering solutions for security infrastructure.
- Continuously automate processes where applicable.
- Maintain detailed documentation and provide regular reports to direct line supervisor.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server-based environments.
- Monitor and test application performance, identify possible solutions and work with developers to implement fixes.
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy systems and strategies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Mobile Device Management.
- Syslog Server/SIEM experience.
- MS Endpoint Manager/Intune/SCCM.
- VMWare.
- Apple Products and MacOS.
- Familiarity with NIST Cyber Framework and Risk Management Framework.
- Familiarity with cloud computing.
- Extremely versatile and dedicated to efficient productivity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve complex issues and problems.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Basic Qualifications & Competencies
- BS degree in a related discipline with 4+ years of experience, MS degree in a related discipline with 2+ years of experience, or 10+ years of directly related experience as a qualification.
- Azure Active Directory (5+ years).
- MS Office 365 (10+ years).
- Windows Systems Administration (5+ years).
- Windows Server Environments (5+ years).
- Fortinet (2+ years).
- Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications & Competencies
- Security related certifications (Security+, CySA+, CASP, CISSP, etc.).
- Scripting, coding, database, or other advanced computer skills.
- Experience with Fortinet products.
- Experience with containerization (kubernetes, Docker, etc.).
