The Opportunity
We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
The Divisional Vice President (DVP), Global Sourcing will lead the procurement function of Abbott Diabetes Care to minimize the organization's overall purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply.
This leader's core expertise and responsibilities will include-
- Third-Party Manufacturers (TPMs)
- Category Management
- Capital Expenditures
What You’ll Work On
- Establish purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems, and procedures that will achieve these strategic objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs by improving the organization’s buying patterns and supply channels.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and manage the most complex or strategically important supplier and vendor relationships to secure terms that are in the organization’s best interest.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of managers and other professionals to ensure that purchasing activities meet established targets and standards.
- Contribute to the development of the organization’s overall supply and logistics strategy.
- Ensure sharing of best practices and adherence to guidelines among functions, regions and sites.
- Measure and track internal performance within each spend category.
- Monitor market dynamics and strategy implementation across regions.
- Drive annual productivity improvements in each spend category.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, scientific or related field
- Minimum 15+ years track record within procurement and supply chain management
- Proven team management experience
- Demonstrated experience in manufacturing and distribution environments
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong project and general management skills
- World class supplier management and relationship building skills
- Outstanding influencing and cross-functional skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or advanced degree
- CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager)
- Broad international experience and globally astute
- Ability to “constructively dissent”
