We are looking for a highly motivated computational biologist to help develop and optimize the Tempus molecular analytics ecosystem. In this role, the successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary team to develop best-practices for analyzing Tempus multi-modal data and evolve the Tempus Data Model. Successful candidates will also lead highly impactful research studies, showcasing best-practices while also addressing fundamental questions related to cancer and human disease. These initiatives will optimize Tempus research capabilities, enabling Tempus scientists and our partners to derive key insights for the benefit of patients.
Responsibilities
- Lead research teams leveraging Tempus real-world clinical and molecular data.
- Evaluate and integrate omic data sets within the Tempus data platform
- Collaborate with scientists, pathology, engineers, data science and product development teams at Tempus to develop best-in-class data models and analytical methods
- Communicate highly technical bioinformatics and computational methods clearly to a wide range of audiences with varying levels of genomics background
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in industry or academia, following completion of PhD degree in quantitative NGS-related disciplines (e.g. bioinformatics, computational biology, computational medicine, or similar). Alternatively, a PhD in computational biology with a strong record of multi-omic, high-throughput sequencing data analysis
- Strong background in SQL and data modeling
- Strong background developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to shift priorities seamlessly
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong peer-reviewed publication record
- Strong programming experience in R or Python
- Experience accessing and analyzing public data sets such as TCGA and GTeX .
- Experience analyzing molecular data linked with real world evidence and clinical data
- Experience with multi-omic analyses including single-cell and spatial platforms
- Understanding of CLIA/CAP validation protocols, and how to bring scientific ideas to market
- Experience with engineering practices for research computing (docker, git, code review, cloud computing)
