In this position... 

As part of our IPI (In-Plant implementation team) team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we’re continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

We are seeking individuals with experience implementing Plant Floor Systems in an automobile assembly environment. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years’ experience with Rockwell PLC’s and HMI’s. As a member of the In Plant Implementation team, you will be part of the team that is implementing Ford’s Next Generation Automated Vehicle Scheduling (NGAVS) application. In that role, you will be responsible for the integration of NGAVS with Ford Vehicle Operations tooling and process control systems. 

Candidate will work with vendor controls engineers to install, test, and debug standard NGAVS logic and drivers. He/she may also direct the efforts of others, including agency personnel or third-party controls integrators, depending on the project assigned. 

Although most NGAVS PLC code modules are standardized, the candidate may need to create custom PLC code for plant unique situations or modify standard templates and AOLs to address issues identified by others. Duties will include maintenance of PLC code for Allen-Bradley ControlLogix using Rockwell RS5000 software and creation and modification of HMI code for Allen-Bradley PanelView HMIs. Assignments may be in support of programs at any of the Ford vehicle assembly plants in North and South America.

 

What you'll do...

  • Provide direction for controls equipment locations for safety, maintenance and production consideration for tool install and through launch.  Verify all Ford safety standards are followed
  • Analyze customer requirements and map to NGAVS systems design
  • Develop process flow diagrams based on customer input
  • Own for the integration of NGAVS with Ford Vehicle Operations tooling and process control systems
  • Work with vendor controls engineers to install, test, and debug standard NGAVS logic and drivers
  • Create custom PLC code for plant unique situations or modify standard templates and AOLs to address issues identified by others

 

 

 

You'll have...

 

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Computer Systems or Manufacturing or B.S. in Computer Science with emphasis on Manufacturing/Industrial Controls
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in industrial controls in an automotive environment, preferably with the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC family
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with all levels of operating management
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build close working relationship with customers
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team player.
  • Demonstrated aptitude to learn and apply new technologies
  • Manufacturing plant, especially Ford plant, experience is a big plus.
  • Experience in networking, especially Ethernet/IP is a plus
  • Experience with SmartEye vehicle identification, or Keyence, or Cognex scanners is a plus

  • Candidate must be legally able to travel to and work in U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
  • The job requires extensive travel to plant sites during critical phases of new model program launch.
  • Must be physically able to work for long hours on the assembly plant floor (body, paint, and final); including walking extended distances and climbing stairs/ladders to overhead mezzanin
