Job Summary
Oversee the safe, efficient and productive operation of maintenance crews. Position is under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Team Lead or Maintenance Manager. Position is responsible for directly supervising and mentoring Maintenance Crew Leads and technicians.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Visibly support and champion Peabody’s Mission and Values.
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System.
• Direct employees to work in a safe, efficient and productive manner.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate work with pit, plant and other operational areas on the mine site.
• Abide by and ensure compliance with all Company rules and guidelines, and all applicable state and federal laws.
• Procure parts and vendor assistance as deemed necessary.
• Direct and supervise vendors when they are onsite.
• Conduct safety observations and complete safety interactions monthly.
• Directly supervisor and mentor hourly employees dedicated to the crew. This includes setting annual goals and managing career development with those individuals.
• Manage the time collection system.
• Conduct crew meetings/trainings.
• Assistance administering the performance management process.
MINIMUM and PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of five years of heavy equipment maintenance experience in mobile mining equipment.
• Must have prior experience (minimum one year) as a Supervisor or Crew Lead in a surface mining operation.
• Must be willing to obtain Mine Foreman's Certificate
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERTISE:
• Ability to effectively prioritize maintenance work versus needs of production.
• Knowledge required of PPRS programs; such as Safety, Technician System, Corrective Action, Performance Management and effective supervisory practices.
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair functions performed in the maintenance area.
• Ability to solve problems and situations arising in the maintenance operations.
• Possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to recognize and develop skills and abilities in others.
• Ability to listen and encourage transfer of information, suggestions and concerns.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
Physical Requirements
Physical Requirements - Surface Environment:
• Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
• The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
