As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers and designers, you will serve as a Systems Engineer in leading the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) effort for the Cargo Delivery Element (CDE), reporting to the CDE Senior Manager. Your position will be focused on defining and modeling the system's logical, physical, and functional architecture, along with supporting the maturation of the system architecture model, including maturing in our mission phases, mission timeline, and the overall ConOps. As a Systems Engineer, you will also share in the team’s impact on various systems products, as well as represent the CDE in cross-functional trades and impact studies. These systems products developed provide Lunar Permanence lander vehicles with Cargo Accommodations products to enable unprecedented crew and mass to surface capabilities. You will also You will be expected to coordinate these requirements with the CDE Senior Manager, program systems engineering, and National Team partners. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight.

 

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Permanence system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the MBSE effort for the Cargo Delivery Element (CDE), including serving as the point of contact for the vehicle definition in the MK2 architecture model and the overall SLD program mission model.
  • Coordinate interfaces, functional architecture, timelines, and overall mission ConOps definition as it pertains to the MBSE modeling effort between the Blue Origin integrated product teams (IPTs) and National Team partners.
  • Support the team in the areas of requirements definition, validation, and verification, and integrate technical content from integration teams. 
  • Support system and lower-level requirements management, including change control, audits, and coordination with other teams. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand vehicle requirements and ensure strong, continued communications throughout the lifecycle of the mission. 
  • Apply a variety of technical principles and tools in Systems Engineering such as CONOPs development, requirements analysis, and interface definition 
  • Develop and coordinate systems products, with help from the CDE Senior Manager, that are delivered to the National Team partners.
  • Utilize good engineering and business judgement to ensure the most efficient and effective product is designed, manufactured, procured, tested, qualified, and delivered.
  • Work independently toward long-range objectives without appreciable direction and determine the technical objectives of assignments to develop approaches to solutions.
  • Perform technical work and provide technical leadership of the highest caliber.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area.
  • Experience in spacecraft (satellites, (un)crewed spacecraft, payloads, etc.) or aircraft (commercial, military) design.
  • General knowledge of overall systems engineer
